what is media buying

Traditionally media buying is any activity that uses paid media marketing efforts.  We discuss this in-depth on our paid media marketing page

There are quite a few programatic softwares  or agencies you can utilize to create an integrated plan when buying media.

Media buying definition

Media buying includes both "traditional" mediums, of print, TV, radio and "digital" email, websites, digital ads, social media.

Increasingly the lines between "traditional" and "digital" media buying have becomed blurred.

Using a wide variety of media buying requires media planning and coordination.  You want to know what your marketing goals are and what will most likely appeal to your audience.  This requires insight and data to make informed decisions; otherwise you’re throwing your money away.

You want to make sure that your ad spend is resonating with the right audience for your business.

what is media planning

Using a wide variety of media buying requires media planning and coordination.  You want to know what your marketing goals are and what will most likely appeal to your audience.  This requires insight and data to make informed decisions; otherwise you’re throwing your money away.

media planning and buying

Media planning and buying are two very different actions.  The planning takes well before any funds are allocated.  Starting with clear goals to be achieved as well as in-depth research into how best to reach your target audience.

The tone, voice and creative is established during this phase.  You want to make sure that there is alignment with your audience and what channels you plan on using.  You want to personalize your messaging for each channel and be different, but your tone, voice and brand messaging should be consistent across channels.

Once a media plan is established, then the buying can begin.  Finding the right partners to execute the media plan is the first step.  There are many options available today.  You can try to coordinate your buying alone.  You can purchase ads on Facebook or Google Ads, and even increasingly its easier to place your creative on “traditional” media.

The reason it has become easier, and at the same time harder, to coordinate is that potential customers easily move between these medium, meaning you need a highly integrated, highly structured campaign.

omnichannel marketing

Omnichannel marketing is a term that has been around for some time, however it has become increasingly relevant in today’s digital age.  Omnichannel takes into account that you audience is consuming content across a variety of different platform, both online and offline.

What is Omnichannel Marketing?

Omnichannel, unlike multichannel, is creating an integrated approach to your marketing knowing that customers and potential customers will encounter your brand across a wide variety of channels, both on and offline. of branding, messaging, and

You don’t want to have one completely different marketing strategy on one channel than another.  Not to say that the marketing shouldn’t be tailored to the platform, but there should be an overall marketing goal that individual marketing campaigns work towards.

Omnichannel is also about improving your communications and relationships with customers and potential customers.  You want to make sure that every touchpoint a customer has is a great one.   Customers and potential customers will interact with you across channels, and you don’t want them to have completely different experiences.

Omnichannel is both customer-centric and brand-centric. The more on-point you are across media channels, the stronger your brand image and messaging will be.
